The Golden Stonefly nymph is a great stone pattern to have at hand. When under the water, the golden coloring perfectly imitates tan and yellow stonefly nymphs. Fish this trout fly on a dead drift beneath a stone dry pattern and let the strikes come as they may. One of the best flies for fishing out west during the late spring when the stonefly hatch is really in full swing. Be sure to have a variety of sizes, as trout prefer smaller imitations in some areas and larger ones in others.
