I saw these Bark2Basics Blueberry products on a dog groomer’s YouTube video, where she prepares a long-coated Australian Shepherd for heavy grooming, and she was using these products. She was doing everything right with the same long-haired breed that I own, and I wanted my dogs’ bathing experience to be as stress-free as she was demonstrating.First of all, neither I nor the dogs have problems with the scent, which is lightly fruity. Secondly, the shampoo is concentrated–so it’s economical if diluted–and it cleanses thoroughly yet gently and rinses off well. The dog groomer puts the shampoo in a separate 32-ounce squeeze bottle, cutting the soap to about 1 part soap to 32 parts water, so that you are squeezing shampoo, massaging it into the coat, and rinsing the hair simultaneously–so much dead hair falls to the bathtub floor as the shampoo helps relax the matted hair. Third, cut the conditioner to about the same strength in a separate squeeze bottle, massage it through the coat, leaving it in a bit. Then you rinse it out once and apply more conditioner as you are rinsing–more dead hair falls out, so the dog should be pretty much mat-free during comb-out\blow-out. When dry, my dogs’ hair is neither sticky nor staticky–just soft and smooth, and ready for cutting.
